সাত খুন মামলার রায়

Verdict of 7-murder case

নারায়ণগঞ্জের আলোচিত সাত খুন মামলা নিয়ে অপেক্ষার একটি পর্যায় শেষ হয়েছে। 

The verdict of the sensational Narayanganj seven-murder case has been passed. 

গতকাল সোমবার সকালে নারায়ণগঞ্জ জেলা ও দায়রা জজ আদালত এই মামলার রায় ঘোষণা করেছেন। 

Last Monday, Narayanganj District and session court has declared the verdict of the so called case .

ঠান্ডা মাথায় ও নৃশংস কায়দায় সাতজনকে খুন করার ঘটনায় আদালত ২৬ জনকে মৃত্যুদণ্ড ও আরও নয় আসামিকে

বিভিন্ন মেয়াদে কারাদণ্ড দিয়েছেন।

The court sentenced 26 to death for their cold-blooded murder of seven persons. Another nine accused

were given various sentences in the case.

এই খুনের ঘটনায় স্থানীয় এক আওয়ামী লীগ নেতা ও একটি আইনশৃঙ্খলা রক্ষাকারী বাহিনীর কর্মকর্তা ও সদস্যদের সরাসরি জড়িত থাকার অভিযোগ ওঠায় শুরু থেকেই এই মামলার ভবিষ্যৎ নিয়ে জনমনে সংশয় ও সন্দেহ দেখা দিয়েছিল। 

The public had been anxious about the outcome of this case, given the direct involvement of that a local

Awami League leader as well as officers and members of a law enforcement agency. 

মামলার রায় সেই সংশয় দূর করেছে।

That anxiety has been dispelled.

একই সঙ্গে সাতজনকে খুন করে লাশ যে কায়দায় নদীতে ফেলে দেওয়া হয়েছিল, সে খবরে দেশবাসী যেমন শিউরে উঠেছিল, তেমনি পরে এই নৃশংস ঘটনার সঙ্গে র‌্যাবের একটি ইউনিটের প্রায় সব সদস্যের যুক্ততার অভিযোগ সবাইকে হতবাক করেছে।

The people had been shocked at the manner in which the seven bodies had been disposed of in the river,

but were even more shocked at the involvement of almost all members of a unit of the elite Rapid Action

Battalion (RAB).

অন্যদিকে ঘটনার মূল পরিকল্পনাকারী হিসেবে নাম আসে স্থানীয় আওয়ামী লীগ নেতা নূর হোসেনের। 

The main planner behind the murders emerged as local Awami League leader Nur Hossain.

সবকিছু মিলিয়ে এই খুনের ঘটনাটি একটি চরম সংবেদনশীল ও আলোচিত বিষয়ে পরিণত হয়।

It was a most sensational and sensitive case.

এর পরিণতি শেষ পর্যন্ত কী হয়, তা দেখতে দেশবাসী গভীর আগ্রহ নিয়ে অপেক্ষা করছিল।

The people awaited the final verdict with bated breath.

এই রায় নিঃসন্দেহে জনগণকে স্বস্তি দিয়েছে।

The verdict has been a relief.

আদালত মূল পরিকল্পনাকারী স্থানীয় আওয়ামী লীগ নেতা (পরে বহিষ্কৃত) নূর হোসেন ও র‌্যাব –১১–এর সাবেক অধিনায়ক তারেক সাঈদসহ চার্জশিটে অভিযুক্ত ৩৫ জনের মধ্যে ২৬ জনকে মৃত্যুদণ্ড দিয়েছে।

Among the 35 persons accused in the charge sheet, the court has sentenced to death 26 persons including the local Awami League leader (later expelled from the party) Nur Hossain and RAB-11 commander Tareque Sayeed.

মৃত্যুদণ্ডপ্রাপ্ত ব্যক্তিদের মধ্যে ১৭ জনই র‌্যাবের সাবেক সদস্য।

Among the Death sentenced rewarded , 17 are the former member of RAB.

নারায়ণগঞ্জের এই সাত খুনের মামলার রায়কে সব বিবেচনাতেই একটি গুরুত্বপূর্ণ রায় হিসেবে বিবেচনা করতে হবে।

This verdict in the Narayanganj seven-murder case is an important one on all counts.

সাত খুনের ঘটনায় নিহত নারায়ণগঞ্জ সিটি করপোরেশনের কাউন্সিলর নজরুল ইসলামের স্ত্রী মামলার এই রায়ে সন্তোষ প্রকাশ করেছেন।

The wife of the murdered Narayanganj city corporation councilor Nazrul Islam expressed her satisfaction with the verdict.

একই সঙ্গে তিনি এই রায়ের দ্রুত বাস্তবায়ন দেখতে চেয়েছেন।

She also called for the speedy implementation of the verdict.

একই ঘটনায় নিহত আইনজীবী চন্দন সরকারসহ বাকি ছয়জনের পরিবারের চাওয়াও নিশ্চয়ই তা–ই।

The families of the other victims must want the same.

নিম্ন আদালতের তরফে দেওয়া এই ফাঁসির রায় হাইকোর্টে অনুমোদিত না হওয়া পর্যন্ত কার্যকর হবে না।

Until the verdict is passed up from the lower court to the high court for approval, the verdict will not be implemented.

বিচারিক আদালতের রায় নথিসহ হাইকোর্টে আসার পর এ মামলার শুনানি দ্রুত শুরু করার উদ্যোগ নেওয়ার বিষয়টি তাই জরুরি।

 

It is important that the hearing process begin immediately when the files reach the high court
রায় ঘোষণার পর অ্যাটর্নি জেনারেল সেই আশ্বাস দিয়েছেন। 

The attorney general has assured this will happen.

আমরা আশা করব, নিম্ন আদালতে যে রায় ঘোষণা করা হয়েছে, তা নিষ্পত্তিতে আর খুব বেশি সময় লাগবে না এবং হতভাগ্য পরিবারগুলোর ন্যায়বিচার পাওয়ার দীর্ঘ প্রতীক্ষার দ্রুতই অবসান ঘটবে। 

We hope this will not undergo a lengthy process and the long wait by the families of the victims will soon end.

একই সঙ্গে প্রশাসন ও রাষ্ট্রব্যবস্থায় কীভাবে ক্ষমতাসীন দলের একজন স্থানীয় নেতার সঙ্গে আইনশৃঙ্খলা রক্ষাকারী বাহিনীর একটি ইউনিটের অশুভ আঁতাত গড়ে উঠেছিল, সেই বিষয়টিও তলিয়ে দেখা দরকার। 

It is also imperative to look into how such an unholy alliance grew up between a local leader of the ruling party and members of a certain unit of an elite law enforcement agency.

সমস্যার গোড়ায় যেতে না পারলে রাজনৈতিক পৃষ্ঠপোষকতায় এ ধরনের মাফিয়া চক্র গড়ে ওঠার সম্ভাবনা থেকেই যাবে

Unless the root of the matter is reached, there will always be the fear of such politically sponsored mafia to rear its head again
