Topic: Terrorism and religious extremism

Throughout the beginning of the 21st century, it is no surprise that terrorism and religious extremism has come to be a major concern worldwide.Because of  the frequency and magnitude of violence,we can  determine that there is a  the sudden surge in activity. Although terrorism and religious extremism has different definition but people of this era has started to see them as identical to each other.

(২১ শতকের শুরুতে, এটি বলার কোন প্রয়োজন রাখেনা  যে সন্ত্রাসবাদ ও ধর্মীয় চরমপন্থা  বিশ্বজুড়ে  একটি বড় উদ্বেগের বিষয় হয়ে উঠেছে। এই সহিংসতার আকার ও মাত্রা দেখে আমরা বলতে পারি যে এই ধরনের কর্মকাণ্ডের  হঠাৎ উত্থান হয়েছে। যদিও  সন্ত্রাসবাদ ও ধর্মীয়  উগ্রতার  ভিন্ন সংজ্ঞা রয়েছে তবুও এই সময়ের মানুষজন দুইটিকেই একই চোখে দেখছে। )
 
Since the Cold War has ended, there seems to be one driving factor behind the atrocities, and focus has shifted from nationalism to religious extremism as the cause of terrorist acts. From the World Trade Center bombings in 1993 and their eventual destruction on September 11th, 2001, suicide attacks in Israel in Palestine, nerve gas in the Tokyo subway, and assassinations in India, Israel, and Algeria and finally the world has seen its savage form at September 11 ,the world was as there were a series of four coordinated terrorist attacks by the Islamic terrorist group al-Qaeda on the United States. Since then  religion has come to the forefront as motivation for the largest terrorist organizations in the modern world.

( যেহেত স্নায়ুযুদ্ধ  শেষ হয়ে গেছে, যা এই নৃশংসতার পেছনে একটি  অন্যতম কারণ হিসেবে  মনে করা হত, তা  থেকে এই  ধরনের সন্ত্রাসী কর্মকাণ্ডের কেন্দ্রবিন্দু  কারণ জাতীয়তাবাদ থেকে ধর্মীয় উগ্রবাদীতার দিকে  স্থানান্তরিত হয়েছে।  ১৯৯৩ সালে ওয়ার্ল্ড ট্রেড সেন্টারে বোমা হামলা ও ১১ সেপ্টেম্বর, ২০০১, ফিলিস্তিনে ,ইসরাইলে মধ্যে আত্মঘাতী হামলা,   টোকিও পাতাল  রেলে নার্ভ গ্যাসের ব্যাবহার এবং ভারত, ইসরাইল, ও আলজেরিয়ার মধ্যে  গুপ্তহত্যা এবং পরিশেষে বিশ্ব সবচেয়ে ভয়ঙ্কর রূপ দেখেছে ১১  সেপ্টেম্বর, - যেখানে মার্কিন যুক্তরাষ্ট্রে ইসলামী সন্ত্রাসী গোষ্ঠী আল-কায়েদা চারটি সমন্বিত ধারাবাহিক সন্ত্রাসী আক্রমণ চালায়।  তখন হতে ধর্ম আধুনিক বিশ্বের বৃহত্তম সন্ত্রাসী সংগঠন জন্য প্রেরণা হিসেবে একেবারে সামনে আসে।)

To understand “religious extremism”  and “terrorism” and how religious extremism  has become the root of modern terroristic acts. At  first we have to know the definition of these two term. 
( ধর্মীয় উগ্রবাদিতা ও সন্ত্রাসবাদকে বুঝতে  হলে  এবং কিভাবে ধর্মীয় উগ্রবাদিতা বর্তমান সন্ত্রাসবাদের মূল হিসেবে এসেছে তা জানতে হলে আমাদের এই  দুই বিষয়ের সংজ্ঞা জানতে হবে। )

 There is no specific definition of terrorism.In a short we  can say that the unlawful use of violence and intimidation, especially against civilians, in the pursuit of political aims is called terrorism. 

( সন্ত্রাসবাদের কোনো নির্দিষ্ট সংজ্ঞা নেই। সংক্ষিপ্ত  ভাবে আমরা বলতে পারি যে, সহিংসতা ও ভীতি প্রদর্শন, বিশেষ করে বেসামরিক নাগরিকদের বিরুদ্ধে বেআইনীভাবে তা  ব্যবহারের মাধ্যমে রাজনৈতিক লক্ষ্য সাধন করা কে সন্ত্রাসবাদ বলা হয়)। 

Religious extremism tends to a state of mind of a person about his religion in which he has such firm belief on his concepts such that any negotiation from it is unbearable for him.He becomes aggressive towards the society. As not only he considers himself to follow the religion strictly in his way but wants the society to do so. If unfortunately someone refuses his thoughts, he can go to any limit to make that person acting upon his ideology.

(ধর্মীয় চরমপন্থা  হল  ধর্ম সম্পর্কে একজন ব্যক্তির  যে  ধারণার তার  উপর এমন দৃঢ় বিশ্বাস যে তার সাথে কোনোরূপ আপস সে সহ্য করে না ।সে সমাজের প্রতি আক্রমনাত্মক হয়ে যায় ।  শুধুমাত্র তিনি নিজে তার মত কঠোরভাবে ধর্ম অনুসরণ করবে তা কিন্তু নয় সে চায় সমাজের  সবাই তার মতই করুক।  দুর্ভাগ্যবশত কেউ যদি তার চিন্তা প্রত্যাখ্যান করে, সে ঐ ব্যক্তির সাথে যেকোন কিছুই করতে পারে) 

The reasons for the existence of religious extremism and terrorism  are quite a few.They are:
ধর্মীয় উগ্রবাদ এবং সন্ত্রাসবাদের অস্তিত্বের  বেশ কয়েকটি কারণ রয়েছে। সেগুলো হলঃ

 Firstly, ignorance and lack of knowledge and of modem education lead many a youth and young woman to the blind alleys of backwardness and inaction. The minds of these young people are almost closed to modern ideas and developments. When nothing new centers the mind, the germ of old ideas grow out of size onto disease germs.
(প্রথমত, অজ্ঞতা ও আধুনিক শিক্ষার  অভাব অনেক তরুন-তরুনীকেই অলসতা ও পশ্চাদপদতার অন্ধগলির দিকে ঠেলে দিয়েছে। এই যুবকদের মন আধুনিক ধ্যান-ধারণা  এবং উন্নয়ন হতে অনেক দূরে। যখন নতুন কোনকিছু মনের ভিতর পৌছায় না তখন পুরাতন ধারণার জীবানু ধীরে ধীরে বড় রোগের জীবানু আকারে আত্মপ্রকাশ করে)

Secondly, religious extremism grows or develops in an atmosphere of hatred, distrust and enmity. One religious class or sect hates another simply because there is a difference of beliefs or ideas between them. One religious group distrusts another because they distrust or doubt each other's intentions. Prolonged hatred and distrust result in deep rooted enmity. Sadly and regrettably, some extremists developed intense hatred against each other and started killing and destroying property.
(দ্বিতীয়ত, ঘৃণা,অবিশ্বাস ও শত্রুতার পরিবেশে ধর্মীয় চরমপন্থা বেড়ে উঠে বা বিকাশ লাভ করে। একটি ধর্মীয় শ্রেনী অপর ধর্মীয় শ্রেনীকে ঘৃণা করে শুধুমাত্র তাদের মধ্যে বিশ্বাস ও ধারণার পার্থক্যের কারণে। একটি ধর্মীয় শ্রেণী অপর ধর্মীয় শ্রেণীকে অবিশ্বাস করে কেননা তারা একে অপরের ইচ্ছা কে বিশ্বাস করে না।  দীর্ঘ সময়ের ঘৃণা ও অবিশ্বাস শত্রুতার জন্ম দেয়।  দুঃখজনক ও পরিতাপের বিষয় যে, কিছু চরম পন্থী একে অপরের প্রতি এতই চরম ঘৃণার উদ্দ্রেক করে যে তারা একে অপরকে হত্যা করেও সম্পত্তি ধ্বংস করে। )

Thirdly, perhaps the worst form of religious extremism and terrorism is reflected in terrorist acts across the country. Religious extremists easily organize themselves into armed groups and bands and provide, military training for terrorist ads and guerrilla warfare Even if the activity is for pure "jihad" or holy war; it needs approval of the government. If it is for the ‘purpose’ of killing the follower of other religions or for destroying their property, it is intolerable.
(তৃতীয়ত, সম্ভবত ধর্মীয় উগ্রবাদ এবং সন্ত্রাসবাদের  সবচেয়ে খারাপ রূপ দেখা যায়  সারাদেশে সন্ত্রাসী কর্মকাণ্ড হতে।ধর্মীয় চরমপন্থীরা  সহজে নিজেদের  সশস্ত্র গ্রুপ এবং দলে  সংগঠিত করে এবং সামরিক প্রশিক্ষন দেয় সন্ত্রাসী কর্মকাণ্ড ও গেরিলা যুদ্ধের জন্য। এমনকি সত্যিকারের জিহাদ কিংবা পবিত্র যুদ্ধ করার জন্য ও সরকারের অনুমোদনের প্রয়োজন পরে। এটি যদি হয় অন্য ধর্মের অনুসারীদের হত্যা করা ও সম্পত্তি ধ্বংস করা তাহলে  তা কখনই গ্রহণযোগ্য নয়।)

Fourthly,Social and political injustice.People choose terrorism when they are trying to right what they perceive to be a social or political or historical wrong—when they have been stripped of their land or rights, or denied these.
( চতুর্থত, সামাজিক ও রাজনৈতিক অবিচার। মানুষ সন্ত্রাসবাদকে বেছে নেয় যখন তারা সমাজের রাজনৈতিক ,সামাজিক ও ঐতিহাসিক ভূল সম্পর্কে অবগত হয় এবং তাদের অধিকার থেকে তারা বঞ্চিত হয়। )

Fifthly,The belief that violence or its threat will be effective, and usher in change. Many terrorists in history said sincerely that they chose violence after long deliberation, because they felt they had no choice. 
(পঞ্চমত, সহিংসতা কিংবা তার হুমকি কার্যকর হবে  এই বিশ্বাস পরিবর্তনের কারন।  অনেক সন্ত্রাসীকে ইতিহাসে বলতে দেখা যায় যেঁ, তারা অনেক প্রচেষ্টার পর সহিংসতাকে বেছে নিয়েছে কেননা তাদের আর কোন পথ ছিলনা)   

Here is a list of the five deadliest terrorist groups that are operating today, and the five that are no doubt at the top of  global concern:
1.The Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant
2.Boko Haram
3.Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps-Quds Force
4.Haqqani Network
5.Kataib Hezbollah

(এখানে বর্তমানে পরিচালিত পাঁচটি মারাত্বক সন্ত্রাসী দলের নাম দেয়া হল যারা নিঃসন্দেহে  বিশ্বের উদ্বেগের শীর্ষে রয়েছে।ঃ
১। ইসলামিক স্টেট অফ ইরাক এন্ড দা লেভান্ত।
২।বোকো হারাম। 
৩। ইসলামিক রিভোলুশনারি গার্ড কোর-কুদস ফোরস
৪। হাক্কানি নেটওয়ার্ক
৫। কাতাইব হিজবুল্লাহ

It may be difficult, perhaps impossible, to stop a determined individual who wants to commit an act of terrorism if they get through every security check, but there are some things that can be done to limit the spread of extremist violence and divert their support.
(এটা সম্ভবত কঠিন এমনকি অসম্ভব যারা সন্ত্রাসবাদের সাথে জড়িত তাদের কে আটকানো যদি তারা প্রতিটি নিরাপত্তার দেয়াল পার করতে সফল হয় কিন্তু কিছু জিনিস করা যায় এই ধরনের চরমপন্থী কাজ বন্ধ  ও তাদের সাহায্যকে ভিন্ন পথে   পরিচালিত করার জন্য।) 

Keep a Check on Extremist Clerics:
Many of them have found a refuge in Western countries, having been driven away from their own countries for being "too radical."   However, these clerics (the brains) keep cultivating and harvesting fertile and confused minds; educated, illiterate, rich, or poor, all are equally affected by their vitriolic sermons that call upon waging war on the West. 
(চরমপন্থী ব্যাক্তিদের প্রতি নজরদারীঃ 
এদের অনেকেই পশ্চিমা দেশগুলোতে উদ্বাস্তু  হিসেবে আশ্রয় নেয় তাদের দেশ থেকে “ অধিক প্রগতিশীল”  বলে বহিষ্কৃত হয় বলে। যাই হোক  এরা শিক্ষিত,অশিক্ষিত,ধনী,গরীব সকল ধরনের উর্বর ও বিচলিত মনকে উদ্বুদ্ধ করে তাদের  নিজেদের বানী দ্বারা পশ্চিমাদের  বিরুদ্ধে  যুদ্ধ ঘোষণা করার)

Make Aid Accountable: 
 Developed countries give millions of dollars to countries such as Pakistan in the name of "economic aid." Well, it is a good thing to give aid, but  this aid should be monitored and the recipient countries made accountable as to how they have spent this money

উন্নত দেশ গুলো পাকিস্তানের মত দেশগুলোকে মিলিয়ন ডলার দিয়ে সহায়তা করে অর্থনৈতিক সহায়তা হিসেবে।  যদিও সহায়তা করা ভাল কিন্তু এই সহায়তা কিভাবে প্রাপ্ত দেস খরচ করছে তার দিকে খেয়াল রাখতে হবে)

Stop the Flow of Terrorist Funds: 
Stop the rich countries that fund construction of religious schools without proper background checks. Because sometimes they are brainwashing their students to wage holy wars. 
(ধনী দেশগুলোকে যথাযথ  ভাবে পর্যালোচনা না করে ধর্মীয় স্কুল তৈরীতে অর্থায়ন বন্ধ করতে হবে।  কারন তারা মাঝে মাঝ্রতাদ্র ছাত্রদের এই পবিত্র লড়াইয়ের জন্য মগজ ধোলাই করে। )

Securing Defenses:
Stricter screening of people who come into one country would be required. This doesn't mean one has to close one's doors to everyone; however, one should at least keep an eye out for undesirable radicals who mean no good.
( যারা একদেশে আসে তাদের তাদের কঠিন ভাবে বাছাই করা উচিৎ। তার মানে এই নয় যে একজনকে সবার জন্য দরজা বন্ধ করতে হবে।  যাই হোক খেয়াল রাখতে হবে অপ্রত্যাশীত প্রগতিশীলরা যেন না প্রবেশ করতে পারে যাদের দিয়ে কোন লাভ হবে না।)  

Explaining terrorism is not so easy as it has spread its roots very deep. Terrorists don't have any rule and law; they only use violent acts intending to create and enhance level of terror in the society and country.Social awareness is a must to prevent it. Our government must take measures to stop this heinous act to be spread all over the country. 
(সন্ত্রাসবাদকে ব্যখ্যা করা এত সহজ নয় কেননা এর মূল অনেক গভীরে প্রবেশ করেছে। সন্ত্রাসীদের কোন আইন বাঁ নিয়ম নেই। তারা শুধু মাত্র একটি দেশে আতঙ্ক তৈরির জন্য সহিংস কর্মকাণ্ড চালায়।এটি সামাজিক সচেতনতা আবশ্যক। আমাদের সরকারের উচিত এই ধরনের ঘৃন্য কাজ বন্ধ করতে  পদক্ষেপ নেয়া যাতে তা সারা দেশে না ছড়িয়ে যায়)
