A & B start walking in opposite directions. A covers 3 miles and B covers 4 miles. Then A turns right and walks 4 miles and b turns left and walks 3 miles. How far is each from starting point?

From, Pythagoras Theorem,

x² = 4²+3²

x² =  16 + 9

x² =  25

x = sq rt (25)

x = 5

Again,

y² = 4²+3²

y² =  16 + 9

y² =  25

y = sq rt (25)

y = 5

Raju is twelfth from the left and Mohit is fifteenth from the right on a row. If we interchange their positions, Mohit becomes twentieth from right. How many boys are there in the row?

Let the CP be Tk. 100. So, SP is Tk. 110.
The new CP is Tk. 80. So the new SP =140%(80)= Tk. 112
So the difference of SP’s = Tk. 2.
Now, if the difference is 2, CP is 100
So, when the difference is 10, the CP is (100 * 10 / 2) taka

                                                            = 500 taka

 

If price of oil is increased by 33¹/₃%, by how much a housewife must reduce consumption of oil so that her expenditure on oil remains the same?

If price of x amount oil was 100

Then, now it is 100+33¹/₃ = 133¹/₃

Housewife used to spend 100 for x amount of oil.

133¹/₃  is the price of x amount

100 is the price of x*100/133¹/₃ 

                            = x*100*3/400

                            = 3x/4

Must reduce (x- 3x/4)

                   = (4x-3x)/4

                   = x/4
